1500 fulltime employees being notified today they might be laid off in two weeks. we are getting word an additional 1,000 part-time employees will also be notified, they too may be laid off in two weeks. take a look at some people going into oakland city hall today. you have to wonder what is going on through their minds? a spokesman for the city tells me it is going like this january 25th, the council will consider which jobs to eliminate. january 31st, the decision will be made on which 200 jobs will be eliminated. 2500 people being notified they might be laid off. 200 being laid off, pause the state has taken away 25 to 30 million dollars in redevelopment agency money. the agency going away. no comment from city officials yet today. they were talking about it yesterday. >> yes, we will have cuts. this is a question of changing

how we do business and what are the changes that we need to make. >> the city of oakland and the employees have been through lay-offs a lot, in the last three years since the recession started. so, i think there's a lot of fatalism now and resignation that you know, if your number is up, your number is up. >> reporter: no police officers are going to be impacted by this. the public works is expected to be hit hard. did talk to several employees no one seemed to know how it was going to work. they knew there was going to be a notice handed to them they didn't know when. one employee told me workers were pretty much asked not to talk to the media about it. another woman i spoke with by chance had just received her notice she might be laid off and she was extremely anxious. the final decision coming up january 31st. 200 people will be out of a job february 4th.

terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. the wife of san francisco's new sheriff went on a venezuelan radio station criticizing the domestic violence investigation against her husband. that interview comes a day after new details were released about the accusations against ross mirkarimi. amy hollyfield joins us from tampa city hall with more. >> reporter: good morning. a spokeswoman here says ross mirkarimi is here at work but doesn't want to . his wife has plenty to say. for the first time iliana=c2/ lopez is saying why she thinks ross mirkarimi is being charged with domestic violence-related crimes and who she thinks is to blame for his situation. she made the s to to -- comments to a venezuelan radio station. >> ross mirkarimi is a progressive who isn't backed by the powerbrokers of california. there's people with a lot of the money behind this political fight. the richest in california

are this. they can't stand that a progressive, who ran a campaign with very little money, won the election for sheriff. >> reporter: investigators say lopez confided in her neighbor, ivory madison. according to court documents lopez told madison that mirkarimi went ballistic during an argument that he pushed and grabbed her and she had madison take pictures of a bruise he left on her arm. madison called police, not lopez. >> we must find out what her motives are and who is backing her. that's what the lawyers and investigators will do. she waited four days to report this. she want to know who she talked to in those four days that convinced her to call the police. >> reporter: according to court documents mirkarimi yelled, f you, f you, when lopez asked if she could visit venezuela. lopez told a radio station it
